CGFNS CES Cost for Ghana Trained Nurses 2026: Accra Applicant's Full Breakdown

If you trained at Korle Bu Nursing School, KATH, or any N&MC-accredited college in Ghana and you are heading to a US state board in 2026, the CGFNS Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) Professional Report costs USD 450 (roughly GHS 6,750 at April 2026 rates of GHS 15 to the dollar). That is the headline figure most Ghana RNs in Accra are searching for. Add the N&MC verification fee of GHS 600, IELTS or OET at around GHS 2,800, and Pearson VUE NCLEX scheduling at USD 200, and your full credentialing spend before flights sits between GHS 12,000 and GHS 14,500.

But here is the thing nobody tells you on the CGFNS website: this post is actually for the Ghana RN who is looking at Canada, not the US, because most of you searching CES costs are weighing both pathways. So let's talk about why Canada often wins on family reunification, and how the cost math really shakes out.

Why Canada Beats the US for Ghana RNs With Families

Picture this: you are a Takoradi-trained RN with a husband who works in oil and gas and two children in JHS. The US H-1B and EB-3 routes can keep your spouse on a dependent visa with no automatic work authorisation for years. Canada's Express Entry and Provincial Nominee streams give your husband an open work permit the day you land, and your children get free public school from grade one.

That single difference is worth more than the CGFNS fee multiple times over. A spouse earning CAD 45,000 in their first year in Edmonton or Winnipeg covers your entire credentialing budget twice.

The Canadian Equivalent: NNAS, Not CGFNS

For Canada, you do not file CGFNS CES. You file with the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS). The 2026 fees:

  1. NNAS application: USD 650 (about GHS 9,750)
  2. N&MC transcript and verification to NNAS: GHS 600, requested in person at the N&MC office on Castle Road, Adabraka. The portal still does not handle direct uploads to NNAS, so you collect the sealed envelope yourself.
  3. WES or IQAS for academic transcripts if your province requires it: CAD 220
  4. IELTS Academic at the British Council Accra (Ridge) or Ghana IELTS Test Centre Kumasi: GHS 2,800. CELBAN is not offered in Ghana, so IELTS is your only practical English option.
  5. Provincial College registration (CNO Ontario, BCCNM British Columbia, CRNA Alberta): CAD 350 to CAD 600
  6. NCLEX-RN registration: USD 200, with the test centre at Pearson VUE Accra on Ring Road Central

Total Canadian pathway: roughly GHS 18,000 to GHS 22,000 before flights and settlement funds. Yes, more than the US CGFNS route on paper. But you get the spousal work permit baked in.

The Credentialing Hazard Most Accra Applicants Hit

NNAS rejects N&MC transcripts that do not show clinical hour breakdowns per rotation. Ghana's older diploma transcripts (pre-2016) often list rotations without hour counts, just module credits. If your transcript looks like this, you must request a supplementary clinical hours letter from your training school directly, signed by the principal, and have it sealed alongside the academic transcript.

This trips up about a third of Ghana applicants and adds three to five months of delay. Sort it before you pay the NNAS fee, not after.

Step-by-Step for a Family Move to Canada in 2026

  1. Verify your N&MC PIN is active and renewed for 2026 (GHS 250 renewal)
  2. Collect transcripts and clinical hours letter from your nursing school, sealed
  3. Open NNAS account, pay USD 650, request transcripts to be sent
  4. Sit IELTS Academic at British Council Accra, target CLB 7 minimum (Listening 7.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 7.0, Speaking 7.0)
  5. Receive NNAS Advisory Report in 12 to 16 weeks
  6. Apply to your target provincial college
  7. Enter Express Entry pool or PNP stream with your spouse listed as accompanying
  8. Write NCLEX-RN at Pearson VUE Accra once your provincial college clears you to test
  9. Receive ITA, complete medicals at IOM Accra, land with your family
